And Susan is here to
help us with these special and unique expressions.
Susan: Hello, Eva.
How are you doing?
Eva: Pretty good,
honestly.
Susan: Ok, do you
prefer tea or coffee?
Eva: I prefer coffee outside home but
I use to drink tea when I stay at home.
Susan: Ok, I drink tea at home, too and
when I go out I have coffee.
Eva: Do you know Spanish people, we
love roasted coffee?
Susan: No, I didn´t know that. Here
in the U.K. coffee only become popular in the last, maybe in the last few
years, really.
Eva: we love coffee when is dark, that
we call roasted coffee.
Eva: Pay attention to
some expressions
Descaifenado
Decaffeinate
Café
solo
Espresso
Café
doble
Double espresso or two shots of
espresso
Cortado
Coffee with a splash of milk
Café con leche
Coffee with milk
Cappuccino
We also called cappuccino and that is a
double espresso with milk.
Manchado
Flat white, that is
one shot of espresso and a lot of milk and it is served in a glass
with a handle.
Uno
muy popular en España que es el carajillo.
Here is not very popular to have the
coffee with the alcohol but in some restaurant or bars if they have a license
you can ask for an Irish coffee and that has a coffee and a layer of cream on
top.
Eva: I loved I tasted in Ireland and
it´s delicious.
Susan: Yes, it is very nice.
Here in Scotland, sometimes they called Scotish Coffee.
Eva: It is good to know
that.
Susan: Yes
Eva: And now, Café Americano.
Susan: We also call that American
Coffee or Americano. And that is just normal coffee, filtered coffee, it is the
cheapest and can be a little bit watery.
Eva: Y Café Bombón
Susan: We don´t have the
Café Bombón, that will be coffee with condensed milk. It is not in our Cafes.
But we do have.
Skinny latte, that flat white with semi skimmed milk and it’s
very popular with ladies.
Viennese Coffee, that is cold coffee and normally with
cream on top
And sometime we have Mocha
Coffee, which is hot chocolate, milk and coffee.
Eva: Too many coffees, yes, and
now.

Susan: Irish Coffee will be nice.
Eva: See you later, then.
Susan: Ok, bye for now.
